Bridging the IPv4-IPv6 gap on Windows XP
[us] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 10 July 2007 02:07:44
I figured out how to make use of some tools out there to get Win32 Pidgin to connect to my IPv6 chat server at work, and to allow the IPv6 TightVNC client to connect to an IPv4 UltraVNC server. 1. NT6Tunnel: not sure where it comes from, but I found a copy here on Sixxs, and was able to use it with Pidgin. Example command: "nt6tunnel.exe 5222 chat" http://www.sixxs.net/archive/tools/NT6tunnel.zip 2. Stone: a Japanese creation to allow programs to work with firewalls not unlike a SOCKS proxy; also happens to translate to IPv6. Example command: "stone.exe localhost:5900 5900/v6" http://www.gcd.org/sengoku/stone/ 3. I'm using XYNTService to manage these programs in background. You can add multiple program entries and start or stop them all as one NT-based service. http://www.codeproject.com/system/xyntservice.asp Hope this helps out some folks out there.
