Reverse DNS Delegation over IPv6?
Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 04 November 2003 14:45:33
Hello all,
I am trying to get reverse dns working, but with no succes (I do not see any succesfull/unsuccesfull AXFRs in the named.log).
My question: must the reverse dns server be a ipv4 (only) server?
bash-2.05b# dig @dino6.atoomnet.net f.5.3.0.8.3.8.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa AXFR

Why would there be axfr's ?
You might want to check "dig +trace f.5.3.0.8.3.8.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa"

How intresting, dig +trace f.5.3.0.8.3.8.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa sometimes works.
So... I am probably going to wait until the first DNS servers in the trace are updated with the correct data?
edit:
Wait!,
I found out 2 things:
1. My caching (the fault) nameserver was poluted with the wrong dns data.
2. My (ipv4) only ISP cannot answer ip6 queries :(.
Problem solved (cache bad... restart good...)
