Correct setup for multiple hosts with aiccu
Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 09 October 2013 10:50:46
We have two linux notebooks that need ipv6 connectivity. Currently, both are configured exactly the same (same user, aiccu default configuration) and use the same tunnel. This works, if both devices are used from separate networks (e.g. one at the office, the other one at home). However, if both are in the office, both are assigned the same ip and one of them loses the connection.
What is the proposed setup for cases like this? One tunnel per notebook? Or just different ips for the notebooks? How can we define different ips? Do we have to ask for another subnet?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards
Matthias

By magic that will work, but that is not how you are supposed to do it and it is pure magic that it works (basically because the last packet will be close to the next incoming packet).
Tunnels are point to point, and there is only one point on either side.
What is the proposed setup for cases like this?
Use two tunnels?
But better is to deploy a tunnel to a host that is in that location and then use a subnet to give connectivity to all the hosts in that network.
That implies a tunnel+subnet per location mind you...

OK, thanks for clearing this up!
We need one tunnel per notebook as the notebooks are roaming and they need access via UMTS from time to time.
