hey guys.. i dont seem to get ipv6 working on vista
like when i type a command like this
netsh int ipv6 add address "Local Area Connection" 2002:81a8:102::
it just tells me Element not found.
here is the part of the autotest.txt where it fails
Pinging 2001:16d8:hidden:hidden::2 with 32 bytes of data:
PING: transmit failed, error code 1231.
Pinging 2001:hidden:hidden:52::1 with 32 bytes of data:
PING: transmit failed, error code 1231.
(i did hide some of the addresses)
I have no idea what i should do, i feel like i have tried everything i know.
I hope to hear from your guys
cheers

I'm going to guess that your connection isn't called "Local Area Connection"
What's the output of ipconfig?

Hm.
I don't see any IPv6 info on the output of your ipconfig...your computer should have at least generated an autoconfig address...is IPv6 enabled on the adapter?
I was able to use the command you listed to add that address to my interface, so your syntax is correct.

ipv6 is enabled, but the only way i get it listed is if i add the ipv6 adress myself.. i have ipv6, tap901, isatap and 6to4 installed.
i dont know if avg might cause the issue?

What I meant by my comment was this:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2501:5c0b:3927:f082%10
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.192
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.100.1
Even if I don't assign an address to the interface, Vista generates a link local address
My virus program would prevent me from browsing IPv6 internet sites, but not from setting up the address.
Is there a check mark next to IPv6 under the properties for your local area connection (in the control panel)

ipv6 is marked there :)
but yea you are right, i remember having a ipv6 address once, i dont know why its gone tho :/ im going to try to reinstall ipv6 and see if that helps

You should go to that LAN adapter's properties and check that IPv6 is active there (and that it is autoconfiguring).
You should even be able to delete the network chip from device list and let Vista find the hardware again and to reconfigure the "new" adapter with default settings.
