My PoP-Endpoint not pinable. Only, if I ping first.
[de] Carmen Sandiego on Tuesday, 14 July 2009 11:45:36
Hi! I am not sure, where the problem is. I've got an SixXS-Tunnel with Heartbeat mode. AICCU is installed on my Router und creates an tunnel. ip6tables ist set for everything on ACCEPT. (just testing) But my Endpoint-PoP is not pingable. But, if I ping first anything on my router via ipv6 (example ping6 ipv6.google.com), then suddenly my Endpoint-PoP is pingable. Why such behaviour? It it normal?

and "iptables" ? :) Remember that you are tunneling over IPv4. Thus all the rules in IPv4 apply as well. Please please please see the FAQ, it seems this same subject has now been brought up several times this last two weeks.

Thanks! Your were right :) My iptables (ipv4) was too strict. I've now allowed the needed rules. Now, everything is ok!

I really wonder why... I had the same issue, and explicitly opening proto-41 traffic on iptables solved it. Do you have any idead how it could happen? Nothing has been changed in the configuration, my OpenWRT box was running flawlessly with uptime of 61 days :) It just suddenly started to drop packets...
