start up and shut down tun on demand

I apologize, when this is a stupid newbie question but I'm new to IPv6.
I'm running linux
2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu
and
aiccu AICCU 2007.01.15-console-linux by Jeroen Massar
Because I don't have an IPv6 firewall on my notebook yet (I would appreciate an appropriate recommendation) I don't want the tunnel to start up automatically during system start up but to enable, and disable respectively, the tunnel manually.
Is there anybody to give me a hint? Many thanks in advance
Detlef

If you are not running any IPv6 programs (that would listen tto incoming IPv6 connections) then the lack of a firewall does not make a big difference.
As for tunnel start and stop, check the startup scripts. There might be a GUI tool for that, depending on Ubuntu version and flavour. Try running : services-admin
Then you can start and stop it by running : aiccu start
and : aiccu stop

There are "dod" or "dial on demand" instructions out there still I expect from the days when you would have a modem or even a PPPoE connection connect and disconnect on demand. Search for those key words, and substitute starting and stopping aiccu for starting and stopping pppd. Just skip all the pppd, chap and pap stuff as aiccu handles all connection, authentication, WAN interface configuration, addressing and (local machine-) routing for you.

Just a little comment there: re-starting AICCU all the time will cause it to connect to the TIC server. The TIC server will ignore connects which are too often.
As such, watch out how often you turn on/off your AICCU.
I am still wondering actually why one would want to do that at all though.
