Getting ping replies, but PoP says it cannot ping?
[nl] Carmen Sandiego on Tuesday, 27 October 2009 09:43:14
Hi there, My setup is an Apple Airport with the builtin IPv6 tunnel options to connect to SixXS. It worked great for months, however, since last Saturday it's apparently no longer pingable from the PoP. I tried it from other IPv6 locations and it seems to ping just fine (ping6 thuis.hokkertjes.nl). After getting in touch with SixXS they tell me that the Airport is not sending replies over the tunnel. I trust they know way more about this stuff than I do, but I don't get it. How else can it send ICMPv6 replies if it doesn't send them over the tunnel? Can someone explain this to me and offer a solution for this? Thanks for any help in advance! -- Kind regards, Tim

This could be the NAT connection tracking issue. If this is the case then SIXXS might see a few pings while and shortly after you're using IPv6. Or if your Airport is somehow sending IPv6 replies but not over the tunnel, perhaps you have 6to4 or Teredo / Miredo enabled and are sending IPv6 traffic over that unknowingly. Or maybe it's both.
