Using a new subnet (routed conection)
[us] Shadow Hawkins on Friday, 06 November 2009 18:03:37
I've had my AICCU tunnel up for over a week (headed for two weeks) and have requested (and been approved for) a new /48 that I want to deploy via my Linksys WRT54GS (currently running DD-WRT). Can the router be configured to handle the routing of the /48 using DD-WRT (crushedhat's NEWD variant) or OpenWRT kamikaze *without* additional packages? The clients are all running IPv6-ready operating sytems (one XP-based laptop and my desktop which dual-boots 7 RTM x64 and openSuSE 11.2 x64 (RC2 currently, but will upgrade to the RTM when it's ready).

Only one you need is radvd, if you have that, all should be fine. See the FAQ and wiki for more details. Do note that you route a /64 per interface.

The problem was finding a third-party firmware that supported both AYIYA and the router hardware (Linksys WRT54GS V2). (Fortunately, OpenWRT/X-WRTY Kamikaze snapshots do; it's now handing IPv4 and v6 from the routed /48 (I'm using a /64 from that /48) for all clients, and the wireless clients are able to use WPA2 encryption besides.) Works in any IPv6-ready OS that can connect to the router.
