Windows Vista DNS Problem
[au] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 20 January 2010 01:08:32
Hi there, this might be a stupid question, but how do I get IPv6 DNS lookup running? 1.) I have access to the IPv6 network, so whenever I type in an IPv6 address I am getting connected to that server. And I verified that via traceroute, the route goes through sixxs, so IPv6 is working as expected 2.) Everytime I am doing a dnslookup with nslookup, I am getting an answer with IPv6 addresses, so ipv6.google.com, throws ipv6 addresses only, www.kame.net, gives back two addresses, the IPv6 one first, and then the IPv4, so that works too, but If I open a web-browser (IE or Firefox) I can type in the URL eg. www.kame.net, or ipv6.google.com, and it always tells me, that the server cannot be found, although, it works, when I type in: http://[2001:200:0:8002:203:47ff:fea5:3085] = www.kame.net IP address Can anybody help me? I tried to change my DNS Server on the IPv4 interface to set it to the OpenDNS Server. Same issues.... Please help me, I am out of ideas what can be wrong (... I have not set the disableipv6lookup thing in FF to true!) Thanks, Joern.

See the Wiki it contains an article about setting up IPv6 on Vista and that you have to add a fake address (they use a 6to4 one in the article) to aone of the NIC's, then it will work.
