Apple Time Capsule tunnel config issue
Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 26 August 2010 22:56:50
Greetings,
My setup:
Cable from UPC [Holland]
Cisco EPC3000 [in bridge mode]
Apple Time Capsule ['stable' DHCP public ip address on the outside]
Wifi
my macbook
The good people of Sixxs granted me a tunnel [80.56.55.822001:610:600:74b::2] and I would love to have this terminated on my Apple Time Capsule [running version 7.4.2, it is the single radio version however], I have followed the instructions on the Wiki to the t.
IPv6 Mode: Tunnel
(checked) Block incoming IPv6 Connections (i.e. run IPv6 Firewall)
Configure IPv6: Manually
Remote IPv4 Address: [192.87.102.107]
WAN IPv6 Address: [2001:610:600:74b::2]
IPv6 Default Route: [2001:610:600:74b::1]
LAN IPv6 Address: [2001:7b8:1506::]
No matter what firewall settings I apply, I can not ping my 2001:610:600:74b::2 address from my Internet host [with a aiccu tunnel, again from Sixxs] it gives:
# mtr 2001:610:600:74b::2 --no-dns

Besides that, I can not get my Time Capsule to hand out [RA] IPv6 locally either. My subnet is 2001:7b8:1506:: [the Airport Utility removes the /subnet notation]. My laptop creates the address inet6 fe80::223:12ff:fe57:b2eb%en1
I have repeated the whole config with a second Time Capsule, running 7.4.1 with the same result.
Anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong and cares to lend a hand?

I can only tell you that your host responds with:
11:10:19.060608 IP 80.56.55.82 > 192.87.102.107: ICMP host 80.56.55.82 unreachable - admin prohibited filter, length 36
When it is send a protocol 41 packet...
I would suggest asking on the Apple IPv6 list they should be able to help you out here.
There was another subject recently about another person with an Airport which had a similar issue.

Terrible...
Just enter the DHCP address of your airport manual and it all works...
Both the tunnel & the RA.
Thanks for your input, maybe this should be added to the wiki?

I am not an Apple customer, but as you are, file it as a bug with them and raise it on the above mentioned mailinglist then they might resolve it.
As for the wiki, anyone with a SixXS account can edit it thus so can you.
