IPv6 newsgroups downloading kills all net traffic on win2k3 server
[nl] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 15 December 2010 16:24:23
I set up ipv6 on my Windows 2003 SP2 server, using Aiccu. After enabling the tunnel I can reach ipv6.google.com and other ipv6 servers just fine. So I added the xs4all.nl ipv6 newsserver to SABnzbd, as an extra server to use next to my tweaknews connection. This worked fine on smaller downloads, but today I started a couple of 8GB downloads (8 connections on ipv4, 4 on ipv6) and it seems that the large ammount of traffic through the tunnel kills all ipv4 incoming and outgoing connections... Quiting the tunnel immediatelly got all connectivity restored. Does anyone have any idea a) what is causing this and b) how to solve this? Robert =8-)

Everything under reserve, i'm not sure just guessing: Are you downloading from an url like news.xs4all.nl or from ip adresses like 192.129.2.25 and 2a01::7534:1 (these are just examples!)? I guess you use an url. Then i think your Client ask dns for news.xs4all.nl, get an ipv6 address and everything will be routed through your ipv6 tunnel. Try downloading from ip adresses directly. flo

I'm using newszilla6.xs4all.nl as the hostname, which is an ipv6-only hostname. So I think it is routes via the tunnel, which is running on the same machine as SABnzbd. The problem is that all ipv4 traffic freezes when I put more than just a little traffic through the ipv6 tunnel. Killing the tunnel makes ipv4 traffic possible again.
