How long to wait for a reverse DNS?
[de] Carmen Sandiego on Tuesday, 26 April 2011 18:52:24
Hi! On 25.04. I setup a DNS server to serve the reverse of my subnet and added to the properties of my subnet. When I try to resolve the reverse of an IPv6 of my subnet (NOT from my PC!) I always don't get an answer... The DNS server is fully configured and if I try the resolve from my PC I get the right answer, so I think it is a problem by setting the nameserver for the net... Have I to do something other as just add the server to my subnet (and "pay" one credit)? Or it's just a matter of time? How long have I to wait? Thanks a lot for your answer Luca Bertoncello

DNS updates for subnets should be effective in under half an hour, if that does not happen, file a ticket with your findings (read: output from 'dig +trace <domain>').
