FritzBox can't establish tunnel (subnet is missing)
Shadow Hawkins on Friday, 20 May 2011 16:20:44
I've got a problem...
I have a user ... and sixxs granted a tunnel to me. But now I don's have enough credits to get a subnet... but without a subnet my FritzBox-Router cant establish the tunnel.
How can I solve that?
I don't have a single machine running 24/7 ... so I can't collect credits using AICCO ...
regards Sven

See the FAQ about credits for full details on how to earn more credits.

well, I did look at the FAQ - but AFAIK the problem is: I cannot use the tunnel on the Fritzbox because I don't have a subnet and I cannot use the tunnel from behind the Fritzbox, because it's a heartbeat tunnel (which would be needed for the Box, but everything behind the box is NATted, which as I understood requires another tunnel form, which I also cannot change in lack of ISK - so I cannot earn ISK, because I cannot use the tunnel... besides that: as it was the case for Sven, also my only 24/7 up system is the Fritzbox)

But there are other ways of earning credits as detailed on that page that do not involve any connectivity at all.

ah... sorry, I guess, I don't get it - the only passage I could relate that to is:
Extra credits can be earned by reporting bugs in the system, coding cool IPv6 applications, contributing a significant useful article to the Wiki and of course we can be bribed with all kinds of goodies.
as with no expertise with the system due to my inoperable tunnel... did you want to tell me, I'd need to bribe you?! I don't think so ;-)
As dynamic (AYIYA and heartbeat) tunnels won't be up all the time it will only receive a 5 ISK bonus after it has been created for one week. This will thus allow one to request a subnet after a week of operating the heartbeat tunnel.
the first sentence could - with some imagination - imply an automatic 5 point bonus after the first week, if not the second sentence would clearly state, that the tunnel must have been operated for one week, which I can only interpret as being connected... anyway, if this only meant to "wait one week", I'd appreciated you had just told me so (and change that sentence to make a clearer statement)
anyway, I felt lost and I still feel lost %-) I can imagine, you guys are always confronted with the same "silly" problems - but pls. remember that for a SixXS-noob it's the first encounter! so thank in advance for a bit more explicit answer! gn8!

There is a big green box giving an excellent hint that is also present on the signup page. We really cannot make things more obvious than that, if you can't be bothered to read, then there is nothing we can do.

I don't have a reading problem, I did read indeed, that it would not be helpful to bother you with unconnected social media profiles on sign-up time or later
I didn't elaborate that in my already overlong previous post, because this "excellent hint" is not for the general public, but only for Xing/LinkedIn users... and I am not active in either network
but I guess, this got OT very early, probably even long before my first post... sorry to have troubled you, Jeroen

If you are not able to satisfy the myriad of options then indeed there are no free extra credits for you.
Note also that providing proper references to open source projects and other such public things can cause extra credits to appear.

Same problem here. My Fritzbox needs a subnet. And while testing a workaround using aiccu i changed to heartbeat and back -> credits now: -20
So i think there is no chance of getting a tunnel running for new credits as fritzbox's 7270 need for a subnet is hardcoded in firmware....

The credit system in SixXS has been there since the beginning of SixXS, thus that is for 10 years now and it has been working great.
The credits FAQ shows several ways of earning credits, if one is unable to read it, then, well, nothing we can do.
