is it possible to guve my tunnel endpoint a name in the DNS?

On an AvM FritzBox 7390 i have a SIXXS Tunnel + Subnet working very well. And i mainly use the ipv6 addresses of my computers and printer in my subnet, to reach them from outside, either for remote desktop or to see the printer status. All works well. Also the FritzBox itself can be seen (and maintained) from outside, this is the first ipv6 address of the subnet ending with ::2 As i always have to remember this address, a dumbie question arises, is there some possibility to give this address a more rememberable name in the DNS (presumably an AAAA record)? greetings Roland Schweiger

See PoPs :: Tunnel Naming Scheme for how the naming for the tunnel endpoints work. Of course you can always just put a hostname somewhere in DNS and put an AAAA for it there.

thanks. Yes i can always see the cl- name entry e.g. by tracerouting my endpoint. Just thought there might be some easy way to put a memorizable name there. As i do not have a DNS i will not be able to place an AAAA record somewhere. On my Win7 machines, i use the Microsoft PNRP protocol to give the machines names that are independant from DNS, for instance MyFirstLocalComputer.pnrp.net but it interested me if the first ipv6 address of my subnet (which is the address of my Router FritzBox) could be given some kind of "real name" in the global DNS ... greetings Roland Schweiger

I also have a FritzBox and use http://freedns.afraid.org/ - I signed up for a free static AAAA record at myname.privatedns.org. They had quite a lot of other domains to choose from if I remember correctly. Works like a charm. For the A record, I use DynDNS, as the FritzBox can easily update it (my IP address gets changed from time to time). Also works like a charm.
