Windows 7 and DNS server settings

Hi, yesterday and today i found out that my desktop running Windows Seven 64 Bits wasn't connected via IPv6 anymore, while it was all working by two weeks and more. Today i realized that, after i manually set the dns server addresses in the Network Interface's IPv6 properties, at the next reboot the gateway is not showing up anymore or i have no IPv6 configuration at all for that interface. Renewing the IP or disabling/reanabling the device has no effects, even after setting the dns configuration back to automatic... i had to reboot my machine and all went fine (as usual). Now my configurations is the following: 1) a linuxbox with a tunnel (AICCU) and a subnet (radvd advertising on eth0 and forwarding enabled). 2) a desktop running windows 7 and automatic IP addressing on LAN. The problem is: when manually setting the dns record for the desktop PC it's all fine until next reboot, then i lose the gateway or the entire IPv6 configuration. The (partial) solution i found is: setting the dns configuration back to automatic and reboot. I'd like to know if i'm doing something wrong and the dns config can just be skipped or if there is actually some problem with 7/radvd. Thanks for reading.

I can tell you there isn't any problem with Windows7 and RA (at least in this case) I'm running 50+ Windows 7x64 stations and all use RA to get their IPv6 addresses. I then set the DNS info via the command line; how are you setting yours?

I use the GUI provided by the Network Interface's IPv6 properties.

Try it via the command line netsh int ipv6 add dns "<name of interface>" <ip address>
