subnetting a /64 prefix from a tunnel
[fr] Shadow Hawkins on Monday, 29 August 2011 17:11:59
Hello all ! I have been given a prefix on an AICCU tunnel : Tunnel NameTunnel-IPV6-jaguar IPv6 Prefix2a01:xxxx:yyyy:1a0::1/64 PoP IPv62a01:xxxx:yyyy:1a0::1 Your IPv62a01:xxxx:yyyy:1a0::2 Is there a way to use a local (LAN) subnet based on this prefix ? For example on prefix 2a01:xxxx:yyyy:1a0:0001::/80 At first, I shall say it's not possible (the whole /64 is "eaten" by the tunnel itself). Any idea/advice ?

...ok then, I read through the whole FAQs, and I found out : (usefull for new SIXXS users anyway). I have been given a tunnel, but since I did not kept it up for more than a week, my ISK credit is too low to ask for a subnet/prefix. So the tunnel given is really what it is : a tunnel, not a prefix freely subnettable. So I guess the right way is : 1)request a tunnel 2)set it up and keep it on for at least one week 3)request a subnet/prefix 4)use this prefix for generating "local networks" subnets [note : how can I set this thread "closed" ?]

2b) Read the credit FAQ or heck, the signup page which indicates how to get extra credits directly 2c) Be lucky to be on a v4 PoP as then there is a routed /64 per default
