hi, i set up a bind for my prefix ip6.arpa. it works when i try the forward entry with host and also when i define the server for host. But i am unable to find the entry under home, where i can request the reverse dns? do i need better classes? thomas

You can provide the names of your DNS servers on the subnet information page. You can't configure reverse dns for tunnels. See the FAQ for more details.

hi, thank you for the answer. How long does it take, until the ip6.arpa get updated at decgn? I added for my subnet the hostnames for my two dns. This dns have only AAAA entries (no A entry). They resolv the entries when ask with host and my dns at the end. but when i do not give my dns, the nameserver are not found. must i add the nameserver with ipv6 address? or is it needed to be ipv4? best regards thomas

must i add the nameserver with ipv6 address? or is it needed to be ipv4?
You need to add to what you think that will be querying them. At current that most likely is both IPv4 + IPv6 with IPv4 being the minimum as a lot of clients don't do DNS queries over IPv6 transport.

Hello Jeroen, so the dns should be reachable by IPv4 AND IPv6. As the machines are only reachable over IPv6 there is a problem, when a IPv4 connected DNS is asked ;( hm. are i am allowed to change the IP address of the dns without registration at sixxs? thank you very much for your information. thomas

so the dns should be reachable by IPv4 AND IPv6.
As mentioned above,it should be reachable by the protocols that you want it to be able to query it.
are i am allowed to change the IP address of the dns without registration at sixxs?
As the delegations go to hostnames, you can change/add A/AAAA records there whatever you wish. Your problem if it works or not. At setup time there solely is a check that it exists to help the user, that is also why it solely requires a single A or AAAA, just to make sure that it exists.
