Windows XP does not get address
[dk] Shadow Hawkins on Sunday, 05 August 2007 13:17:17
I have my Linux machine configured as an IPv6 router with a tunnel and a subnet, running radvd. I have a Windows XP machine on the network I want to give an IPv6 address. I did "ipv6 install" and it got the two IPv6 addresses I expected. All was good. Then I rebooted, and it did not receive an IPv6 address. Tried several times, but I could not get an IPv6 address anymore. Only the link local address. However, running "ipv6 renew" fixes the problem. So it works, but it is annoying that I have to run ipv6 renew after each reboot to get IPv6 connectivity. I would assume this should happen automatically? So what is wrong with my Windows XP installation? :)

Try running "esentutl /p %windir%\security\Database\secedit.sdb" and restarting the system. You may need to uninstall and reinstall IPv6 as well.
