Sixxs website does not detect IPv6
[be] Shadow Hawkins on Friday, 10 August 2007 01:53:15
Hello, I've managed to set up IPv6 long ago on my laptop, where everything is working perfectly, I use it to access the xs4all news server over ipv6, and I noticed, when I visit the sixxs site, it detects I have ipv6 and displays it in the box on the frontpage. Today I've set up IPv6 on my desktop as well, on Vista (big deal, fiddling with TAP drivers :p) and I got my ipv6 ip working and pingable via online tools. I also manage to set up a tunnel to the news server again. But the website doesn't detect it... And I was wondering, how does it detect this? And is there something I can configure for it? Thanks

You are most likely using either Teredo or 6to4 or similar transition methods. In Vista that means that they get tried AFTER IPv4, as Vista tries: Native IPv6, IPv4, 6to4, Teredo, depending on what is available. As such, if you want it to 'detect' (which simply is the IP address you connect from, thus it can't detect it when you are not using it), either not use those mechanisms, or use www.ipv6.sixxs.net to force usage of IPv6.
