Vista, fixed ip for some subnets, not for all
[dk] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 04 October 2011 12:27:00
Can I setup Vista to use fixed ipv6-adress for some subnets, and variable for the rest of the world? I use the ip to setup some preferences the first time an ip is seen, but with ipv6, the ip is changing all the time... I only want to fix the ip-address when the machine connects to a certain subnet. Something with routing perhaps?

That effect is called IPv6 Privacy Extensions (RFC4941), it can be disabled with a netsh command:
netsh int ipv6 set privacy state=disabled
Then you only get the EUI-64 derived address which is (unless you change network card) always static.

I know, but can it be fixed when the machine accesses some subnets, but not for the rest of the world?

It is either on or off, anything else you would need to script yourself. IMO the whole privacy thing is pretty much useless due to all the other ways of tracking people, and it is very annoying for system administrators
