supported tunnel types on cisco IOS

Hi, I was previously running a setup like: <adsl modem in bridged mode><cisco 871> Since a few days I am running in this setup: <vdsl modem in routed mode(NAT)><cisco 871> My ISP is Dutch Telfort FWIW. My vdsl modem is a Zyxel 2812, and eventhough it's a relative new model is not able to forward protocol 41 messages (I also tried putting the Cisco 871 in DMZ). I read that there are 2 types of tunnel types supported on Cisco IOS: static tunnel and heartbeat tunnel. As far as I understand both of these types need protocol 41 to be forwarded to the Cisco 871. Are there any other tunnel types supported on Cisco IOS which do not need the protocol 41 forwarding ?

It is one of these? As Page 5.1.1 shows it is capable of bridge mode. Custom Firmware might have locked that away though. Note though that if you are having a 'triple play' setup (read: telephone and/or TV comes in through DSL) then you likely cannot use bridge mode depending on how they set that all up.

Heartbeat only if you have the correct IOS image that supports TCL with UDP.

Correct

Nope, Cisco only supports Protocol-41. (They might support some other PPP alike protocols though, but SixXS does not do any of those)
