Vserver-Hoster does not provide AAAA, Solution: 6dns.org
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 18 October 2007 17:20:26
Hi, I had the following odd problem: My Hoster does not allow me to setup AAAA Records for my Domain. Setting up a tunnel there, does not work, because it's a vserver.(1) I could only provide links to my website. |:( After discovering 6dns.org, the solution is rather simple: register, add your tunnel IPv6 End Point, choose a Hostname. Point the Hostname to your IPv4 Domain. Then, setup a CNAME pointing to that Hostname. Doing ping6 mysite works fine: *D
ipv6.netbeisser.de is an alias for netbeisser.6dns.org. netbeisser.6dns.org has address 62.75.160.197 netbeisser.6dns.org has IPv6 address 2001:6f8:900:7c0::2
As long as I do not move to a rootserver to create my own IPv6-DNS, this is a workaround. Big Thanks to 6dns.org guy for providing this service! 1) tun could not be enabled

Yes, I'm using 6dns service for quite a while, too. I especially like the delegation feature, so I can have my own installation of bind9 serve my IPv6 zones. Of course, this doesn't follow the recommendation of having at least two authorative DNS-servers for a zone, but as this isn't a production site, it's really good enough :) So, thanks to 6dns.org ppl (and, of course, to sixxs ppl) for the great free services.

Hi, I'm using the free DNS services at sitelutions.com for the AAAA records as they also provide free dynamic DNS for IPv4. Once DNS for any domain (you own) is transferred to sitelutions.com, you can define your own A records that should be enabled for DynDNS. Greets, Wolfgang
