Unable to reach my PoP using IPv6
[fr] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 13 May 2008 11:55:38
Hi all, I lastely configured an 6to4 tunnel using aiccu. Everything went okay (and so it still is), but I'm unable to connect to any IPv6 web sites. According to my account sixxs web interface, the tunnel is up and running though :( Can somebody help me solve this out? The output of aiccu test is as follows (100% packet loss) : ###### [6/8] Ping the IPv6 Remote/PoP Inner Tunnel Endpoint (2001:6f8:202:29f::1) ### This confirms the reachability of the other side of the tunnel ### If it doesn't reply then check your interface and routing tables ### Don't forget to check your firewall of course ### If the previous test was succesful then this could be both ### a firewalling and a routing/interface problem PING 2001:6f8:202:29f::1(2001:6f8:202:29f::1) 56 data bytes --- 2001:6f8:202:29f::1 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2011ms

Try going through the "Reporting Problems" list on the contact page. Just stating that it is broken is not getting you anywhere. Details are needed and a lot of them. First of all, when you are stating 6to4 it already can't have anything to do with SixXS as we don't use that protocol.

I had the same problem, if you look at the page: SixXS - IPv6 Deployment & Tunnel Broker :: FAQ : Connectivity (Tunnels and Subnets) : How do I configure my machine to setup the IPv6 in IPv4 tunnel to the SixXS PoP? At the last part of the install process you have to enable icmp on the ipv6 interface for the PoP being able to contact you. I had some issues on WXP SP3, which I've documented on this forum. This can happen because the PoP can't ping your address, and till you're not accessible he doesn't forward any packet to you. Hope this helps, Pau P.S.: For SIXXS guys - Maybe a link to this configuration page from AICCU or AYIYA FAQ? I've found this page a bit dificult to find.

That is nonsense. The PoP does NOT require an endpoint to be IPv6 or IPv4 pingable. In the case of a static tunnel, it will just send proto-41 packets to your host. In the case of an heartbeat tunnel, only when you have send a proper heartbeat in the last 120 seconds, and in the case of an AYIYA tunnel, when it has received a proper AYIYA packet in the last 120 seconds. Now the Tunnel Robot, that girl does care about endpoints being pingable and it tests it, but that is only for credits and the nice latency graph, nothing more, nothing less.
P.S.: For SIXXS guys - Maybe a link to this configuration page
from AICCU or AYIYA FAQ? I've found this page a bit dificult to find.
The whole point of AICCU is that you don't need a FAQ.

A few questions: - What operating system are you using? - Are you able to ping6 ipv6.google.com? - Do you get an IPv6 address for your tunnel that starts with 2001?
