Draytek 2130 issues - Please help
[br] Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 14 July 2012 00:04:11
Hi All, I've been struggling to get my tunnel working. I've followed this guidance here http://www.sixxs.net/wiki/Vigor2130 but still no luck. I'm a total networking novice, so please bear with me. The IPv6 LAN menu on the Draytek is actually slightly different from the wiki. It has the RADVD (stateless) tickbox, which I have ticked, and then below that it also has a DHCPv6 (stateful) box. At first, I had that one ticked as well, but kept getting the following error in the log: "wide-dhcp6s[2390]: dhcp6_get_options: unknown or unexpected DHCP6 option vendor class". I assume it's only either the RADVD or the DHCPv6 that should be enabled? If so, which one should it be? Anyway, neither way works. I assume I won't have to make any changes to the IPv4 configuration. In the LAN Status, I see two IPv6 addresses, one (Global) and one (Link). But in the WAN status there is only the Link. Any help would be greatly appreciated Best, Marcel

One needs both RA and DHCPv6 for DHCPv6, this as the first 64bits of the prefix comes from RA, while the last 64bits come through DHCPv6. You should be able to get things working with just RA though. (I personally never use DHCPv6, this as the settings just go through DHCPv4, which indeed does mean no IPv6 DNS resolvers, but that is not an issue)
But in the WAN status there is only the Link.
Is the "WAN" here the tunnel or just the external IPv4 side?

Hi Jeroen, Thanks for your response. If I switch on both RA and DHCPv6 I get the following error in the router log like every second: errdaemonminiupnpd[7271]: sendto(udp_notify=8, 192.168.2.1): No such device where 192.168.2.1 is the router's IPv4 address. Does that mean I have to change something in the IPv4 settings? I'm not sure what you mean with "external IPv4 side", but I would expect the WAN to change from a IPv4 address to a IPv6 or at least show some sort of tunnel setup. The Draytek also has a menu option "TSPC Status" and that says "Disconnected". Same goes for the test websites, they only show my old IPv4 address. Is there anything I need to do regarding the Subnet? I simply followed the Draytek 2130 setup instructions so far, which doesn't seem to work. Cheers

If I switch on both RA and DHCPv6
Try just RA, DHCPv6 is rarely needed unless you want to assign a specific address to a host.
miniupnpd[7271]: sendto(udp_notify=8, 192.168.2.1): No such device
where 192.168.2.1 is the router's IPv4 address
Is that the WAN/external or you LAN/internall IPv4 address?
Does that mean I have to change something in the IPv4 settings?
Could be that an interface is marked down, hard to say.
I'm not sure what you mean with "external IPv4 side",
The IP address you get from your Internet provider.
but I would expect the WAN to change from a IPv4 address to a IPv6 or at least show some sort of tunnel setup
No, you should keep both IPv4 and IPv6 in parallel. Without IPv4 you would not have the ability to tunnel and most of the Internet is still IPv4 only.
Same goes for the test websites, they only show my old IPv4 address.
That IPv4 address you see is your WAN/external address (that is, if your Draytek does NAT, which I expect it does).
Is there anything I need to do regarding the Subnet? I simply followed the Draytek 2130 setup instructions so far, which doesn't seem to work.
Depends on which instructions you mean and if you entered them properly or not...

Thanks for the quick response. Maybe I should just go back to the basics first, as I really don't know much about networking... So here are my details from the Tunnel: IPv6 Prefix2001:xxxx:200:35b::1/64 PoP IPv62001:xxxx:200:35b::1 Your IPv62001:xxxx:200:35b::2 Subnet Prefix 2001:xxxx:200:835b::/64 Tunnel Endpoint 2001:xxxx:200:35b::2Routed /64 SubnetEnabled In the LAN configuration where it says IPv6 address (and has a /64 after the box), do I enter the first one, i.e. Prefix address there, or "Your IPv6"? (I tried both and both didn't work). Then in the DHCPv6, if I used it, which range would I enter? If I understand correctly, I would not have to do anything with the Subnet Prefix or Tunnel Endpoint addresses? Ah, so you are saying that if I go to the IPv6 Test page, it is correct that my ISPs IPv4 address is showing due to the NAT of the router? I thought I had to see my IPv6 address there. Many thanks, Marcel

You need to enter an address of the Subnet Prefix, thus eg 2001:xxxx:200:835b::1
Then in the DHCPv6, if I used it, which range would I enter?
2001:xxxx:200:835b::1/64
If I understand correctly, I would not have to do anything with the Subnet Prefix or Tunnel Endpoint addresses?
Apparently you don't. The Subnet Prefix belongs on the LAN, the Tunnel belongs on the Tunnel interface.
I thought I had to see my IPv6 address there
Depending on the test page you visit you should see likely both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. http://www.test-ipv6.com is a good one to check.

Aha! Thanks a lot, obviously did quite a few things wrong there. So now I have 2001:xxxx:200:835b::1/64 as IPv6 address. Now I keep getting the following error messages in the log: syslog: Succesfully retrieved tunnel information for T99190 (progress!!) then syslog: AICCU running as PID 15997 (sounds great) but then syslog: [tun-start] Couldn't set interface name to aiccu: Device or resource busy (16) and then like every second syslog: [AYIYA-beat] : Error (-1) while sending 44 bytes sent to network: Invalid argument (22) If I go to http://www.test-ipv6.com it shows me my IPv4 address and says "No IPv6 address detected". Cheers, Marcel

syslog: [tun-start] Couldn't set interface name to aiccu: Device or resource busy (16)
How many aiccu's are running? Or is maybe something else already using the tun/tap interface?
syslog: [AYIYA-beat] : Error (-1) while sending 44 bytes sent to network: Invalid argument (22)
That could be a firewalling issue amongst others, are you firewalling things away? Does Draytek support tun/tap based tunnels, eg AYIYA or maybe just proto-41 based ones? As it seems like a Linux box, maybe better to investigate it from a shell.

Hi Jeroen, Thanks for your reply. You've gone way beyond my very limited knowledge with your questions :) I don't know how to find out how many AICCUs are running, but I only have one router and one Sixxs.net account. So from what I can tell, there should be only one AICCU running. The Draytek has a firewall for IPv4 and a very basic one for IPv6 which says "Note: IPv6 Firewall function only check pure IPv6 packet. It doesn't support IPv6-over-IPv4 Tunneling protocol like TSPC". I have not set up any rules for the IPv6 (wouldn't know how to...) and have not changed anything on the IPv4 firewall. Yes, the Draytek with the latest firmware supports AYIYA, which is what I've set up according to the Wiki on sixxs.net. The IPv6 routing table looks as follows: DevicePrefix MetricExpires MTUAdvmssHoplimit eth0 2001:xxxx:200:835b::/64256-87100sec 150014404294967295 br-lan2001:xxxx:200:835b::/64256-84974sec 150014404294967295 fpfe80::/64256-89683sec150014404294967295 eth0fe80::/64256-89683sec150014404294967295 eth0.1fe80::/64256-85415sec150014404294967295 ra0fe80::/64256-85409sec150014404294967295 br-lanfe80::/64256-84973sec150014404294967295 br-wanfe80::/64256-84780sec150014404294967295 eth1.2fe80::/64256-84764sec150014404294967295 eth1fe80::/64256-84764sec150014404294967295 Many thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
