Prefer IPv4 on Linux?
[nl] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 18 June 2008 20:34:46
Hi, Is there a way to have Linux (Debian etch in particular) resolve to v4 addresses first even when there is a v6 tunnel enabled? As far as I can see, normally the v6 address is resolved as soon as v6 is enabled, which is not what we need. This is breaking my head for some time now... hopefully anyone can help. Pieter

see /etc/gai.conf, Debian has a great manual page about it.

Thanks, that's exactly it, but just too late for Etch it seems unfortunately. If this is the only solution, then I'll try to get/build a libc backport >2.5 for Etch (or how often did Debian release again? :-)). Thanks again! Pieter
