Problem with rtadvd and OS X Leopard?
[us] Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 12 July 2008 14:25:42
I followed the wiki instructions for setting up AICCU/rtadvd on OS X and I'm getting the following message when I setup rtadvd rtadvd[344]: <sock_open> IPV6_JOIN_GROUP(link) on en0: Address family not supported by protocol family I'm using the line in the rtadvd.conf file with my subnet plugged in appropriately. en0:\ :addrs#1:addr="2001:4830:16a2::":prefixlen#64: thoughts? aiccu works fine. And I've set the Ipaddress in network prefs to my subnet::1 and the router ::1 with a prefix of 64. Not sure what could be causing this. <sock_open> seems strange. "Address family not supported by protocol" seems even stranger

The wiki says to use the network utility to set the IP address/router and prefix, but it does not set the address on en0 (wired) after aiccu is started. strange..

This step is simply to set your host's address. This is necessary, since I found that the router machine needs to have a static IPv6 address set, within the subnet, to work properly. The absence of this wouldn't explain the issues you are having, but you should provide this value.

Other than the rtadvd.conf entry, which looks right (I have the same format on my MacOS X system), what else are you doing. At what point do you see the error? Does your en0 interface have at least an IPv6 address starting with fe80?
