Can i subnet my /64 ?
Shadow Hawkins on Monday, 08 October 2012 16:51:43
Hi everybody !
I got one network, with an ubuntu AYIAY (ACCIU) tunnel who work very well. I got another PC on this network who get it's IPv6 address very well too (via radvd on ubuntu pc).
Everything works as hell ! :)
Now i'd like to get another network aside of the first, who can claimed the IPv6 address from my ubuntu station.
Is it possible for the host in second network to reach the ubuntu host on the 1st network to grab their IPv6 address ?
Or doing it in another way ?
Like that :
Routeur ADSL --> Switch --> Ubuntu Server --> 1st network
(with 2 subnet) --> 2rd network
(one for each network)
How can i do ? Can i got just grab another subnet on my /64, and make another radvd config for the other network ?
How to do it ?
For information i got not more credit left for anything ^^'
Is it possible to get 2 IPv6 network with only one Ubuntu server having ONE tunnel ?
Thx, best regards :)

One could play with NDproxy setups, but that is dirty and icky and something that one should avoid.

Just request a subnet, then you have a /48 to play with.

I'd like to request a subnet, but i haven't enough credit, cause i had to change my tunnel :/

Ok.
My routeur --> My switch --> my networkS.
I've established an inter-vlan connectivity.
I can ping my host for vlan2 (where my ubuntu server is) to vlan3 (where the host i want to configure is).
However, i see no router advertisement on my host on vlan3 ?
Is it normal ?

Without at least the basic output of routing tables, there is little to say... thus please show the configurations.

Ok here we go.
My tunnel is working fine in my ubuntu computer on vlan4 (with AICCU AYIAY).

};
};

The problems :
- When i take an host in vlan4, it receive the router advertisement and configure it very well with IPv6.
- When i keep an host in vlan2, he didn't receive the router advertisement..
What i want :) :
- I want than my host in vlan2 receive the router advertisement and can configure themself automaticly !
Is it possible to make it reliable ?

VLANs are disjunct multicast domains, as such you need disjunct Router Advertisements running on each VLAN and hence thus also multiple /64s for it to work.

Ok so, just to be fixed, there is no way to have full LAN connectivity with just one /64 ?
I really need a /48, isn't it ?
I don't get credit at all, cause i've to changed my tunnel from static to AICCU.

As your "full LAN" is actually multiple Ethernet segments, you indeed need multiple /64's.

Unless you make your network simpler :)
Do you really need so many VLANs? I used to have a VLAN setup, but then just got rid of it again, heck even the wireless and wired are bridged as there are few reasons not to. Security is not the issue, if somebody is on this network they will likely have access to all the resources already anyway.

You likely mean an AYIYA tunnel. AICCU is the tool that supports that protocol next to TIC and heartbeat and the the general configuration setup.
See the FAQ, even on dynamic tunnels you gain credits every two weeks. The FAQ also states how to get out of a credit dip if one has demonstrated to keep a tunnel running or do something else useful.

Ok i will keep my other network :)
It's possible to make NAT66 (i know it's not common ^^) for my hosts to give them connectivity through the router Ipv6 address ? :)
best regards thx for your replies.
And sorry for my bad english !

If you want to hack it you can use ndproxy, not nice but works.
Better to just earn those credits and get a /48 though, as mentioned see the FAQ for the options.

The problem is i had to change the tunnel type to make it work.
I got -20 credit.
And i've juste 3 more weeks before finishing the project ! ^^'

Did you got some example on how to make NDProxy ?
Does NAt66 supported on Cisco router ? :)
thx
