Compiling squid3 with IPv6 support...
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Sunday, 14 September 2008 11:54:20
...was a bit of a hassle. I downloaded it from the developer tree and had to experimet a bit with the options. However it's working now, see the output:
Squid Cache: Version 3.HEAD-20080912 configure options: '--enable-icmp' '--enable-ssl' '--enable-ipv6' '--with-localhost-ipv6' '--prefix=/' '--exec-prefix=/usr/' '--sysconfdir=/etc/squid3'
The prefixes are not optimal, some files and directories are created in /. Other prefixes don't compile at all due to errors i can't resolve. It works for me now, even without a IPv6 subnet my clients can browse IPv6 sites. Maybe this helps anybody.

a dual stack web cache is a big missing piece, as the browsers themselves cannot specify different proxies for ipv4 and ipv6. that's the main reason why I had to disable my squid at home, otherwise I can't browse in IPv6 :( (and there is no generally available precompiled package of squid with ipv6 support yet)
