master dns only ipv6?
[it] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 18 November 2008 19:35:49
Hi, I've bought a .info domain from GoDaddy to use with my ipv6 subnet. I'm trying to use as master DNS my ipv6 only (ipv4 dynamic behind-NAT) but I didn't understand how to do this. Can someone help me? Tnx

Hello Alessio, Do you want to only have AAAA records for this domain, or do you want the NS server for this domain to be only available on ipv6 like ns.nl.ipv6.net? If you run bind9 you can tell it to only listen-on to the IPv6 address. A bit like this: /etc/named.conf: options { listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; }; listen-on-v6 port 53 { 2a01:348:6:15c::2; }; ... Double check after restarting named: # netstat -nlp |grep named Proto RQ SQ Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 10423/named tcp 0 0 2a01:348:6:15c::2:53 :::* LISTEN 10423/named udp 0 0 127.0.0.1:53 0.0.0.0:* 10423/named udp 0 0 2a01:348:6:15c::2:53 :::* 10423/named Which operating system do you use? Hello Frank, Thanks a lot for your reply. I've got a powerdns installation running on my debian box, this dns listen on ipv6 interface, but I can't tell my register to use an authoritative DNS which has only ipv6 address. I've found a temporary solution using afraiddns as master and mine as IPv6 slave syncing with AXFR, but I hope to be able using my linuxbox as master dns.
