Windows XP -> Aiccu IPV6 not working?
Shadow Hawkins on Sunday, 04 January 2009 11:50:19
Hello all,
I'm having problems with setting up ipv6.
I registered on the site, and requested a tunnel:
You have requested a tunnel with the SixXS project. The information is:
PoP Name : nlhaa01 (nl.leaseweb [AS16265])
Type : Dynamic (ayiya)
Then i installed the tap32 drivers. I downloaded aiccu-2006-07-23-windows-gui.exe and i logged in using my username / password and this settings:
- manual configured
host: tic.sixxs.net
After login in, i see my tunnel in the list. I hit enable. In the tunnel information window @ Aiccu i see some information (displayed only relevant info):
IPv6 POP, 2001:1af8:fe00:20::1
IPv6 local, 2001:1af8:fe00:20::2
IPv4 POP, 94.75.219.73
IPv4 local, ayiya
So everything is fine till this point, i assume. However, the ipv6calculations page sais that i am using ipv4.
This is the output of ipconfig /All
C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx>ipconfig /All

Why "Manual Configured" ? Unless one of the DNS caches you are using is broken you should see a selection for "SixXS" in the dropdown list.
Did you press the "Enable" button? :)
In the output of "ipconfig /all" there is no mention at all of a SixXS or interface or anything else that could be a tun/tap interface. You might want to verify that.
Also, for debugging issues, the GUI edition is not very handy; better download the console edition and then run that in verbose mode as it actually gives output.
The combination should definitely work.
Do btw check "firewalling" and anti-virus software, maybe they are in the way too.

- How can i verify that? I'm a n00b, sorry.
- The windows firewall is disabled, anti-virus software isn't even present here :)
Help! :)

Jeroen Massar on Sunday, 04 January 2009 12:32:01 Manual Configured because there was the dropdown list is empty!
One of your configured DNS servers itself is broken or one of it's upstreams, as it is not properly passing long TXT records. This will most likely also affect all other non-standard queries, thus also AAAA lookups. See also Wikipedia.
- How can i verify that? I'm a n00b, sorry. - The windows firewall is disabled, anti-virus software isn't even present here :)
With those two lines combined I suggest that you enable the windows firewall and do install anti-virus software.

It works now!
I reinstalled the tap driver, it was in the wrong folder (on the website it states that it doesn't matter where you extract it, but needs to be in programfiles/xxxx)
anyway, it works now :) But the ipv6 browser calculations page still displays me as ipv4, however, i can ping sixxs.net now... any clues?

Try http://www.ipv6.sixxs.net, that is an IPv6-only link.
Of course if you would mention the name and version of your browser that would be helpful too. Details details details.
