Low Speed at PoP dedus01
Carmen Sandiego on Saturday, 06 June 2009 18:45:02
Hello Speedpartner and Sixxs team,
I have two tunnels (T18308 and T15816) at your PoP dedus01.
The T18308 is connected to my german rootserver and I am able to download to download full speed (100Mbit) with IPv4.
The same mirror with IPv6 give me doanload rate with max. 400kb/s ... and now 178kb/s.
Here are the two wget's:
wget -4 http://de.releases.ubuntu.com/jaunty/ubuntu-9.04-desktop-amd64.iso

Also connected from my home tunnel to the rootserver (on the same pop) is very slow ... and on the other way the same.
Is there any limits or an error?
Bye

Low Speed at PoP dedus01

There can be a LOT of reasons for this behavior.
Please remind yourself that you are using a PoP which is shared by a lot of other people, next to that you are looping your IPv4 traffic from you to the PoP, which has a lower MTU and other overheads, and then IPv6 to the endhost.
We do not control any of those paths there and thus cannot solve your speed issues.
Try looking at traceroutes, then realizing where packets go to and it should give quite a clear picture that you are not going to get your full 100mbit speeds everywhere you go on the Internet.
If you require that, I am fairly sure there are several ISPs who can offer you such a service.

Hello again,
now I've made serval tests and again I think there is something wrong:
I requested a new heartbeat tunnel at deham02 and on BOTH (home and rootserver) I recieved fulspeed IPv6 traffic (about 30Mbit/s at home and 90MBit/s at rootserver).
On dedus01 there is for me a speed of 100kb-400kb .... at traffic page from dedus01 there isn't shown a very high traffic rate - so why is my speed on PoP dedus01 is so slow? - Also "in-house" from home-over-pop-to-root (on the same pop) the speed is at 400-700kb)
On both machines I can ran a mtu of 1480 because both have on ipv6 1500 ... so there isn't much overhead...
Dedus01 is nearer to me than deham02 - better ping times for dedus01 - so I use dedus01.
Tunnel ID: T18308 (Static - for my rootserver)
Tunnel ID: T15816 (heartbeat for my home connection)
Bye
Chris

Two different providers, two completely different networks, and several very different network interconnections.

Shadow Hawkins on Sunday, 19 July 2009 19:43:50 On dedus01 there is for me a speed of 100kb-400kb ....
we have the same problems here with our rootservers at Hetzner.

we have tested with our tunnel on deham01. On deham01 you get an downloadrate from approx. 5MB/s from DFN/6to4-tunnels, on dedus01 we get 700kb/s at maximum and 450kb/s at an average.
Is dedus01 overloaded or is there not enough bandwith? this is not a big problem if the users know this fact.
please reopen the ticket - this is not a user based problem.
best regards
Marcel
