Google is distributed around the world, they have a prefix from almost every RIR and how they do their routing and determine what is the closest is done per BGP and DNS geolocation. Nothing we can do about though.
One tip: use a *local* DNS recursor, don't use one on the other side of the world as you will get wrong results.
