AICCU can't start on OpenWRT
Shadow Hawkins on Friday, 29 March 2013 16:54:58
Hi, sixxs-Team
Please help! AICCU can't start.
I am using AICCU on OpenWRT (Attitude Adjustment 12.09). I manually added /etc/aiccu.conf and /etc/init.d/aiccu by following the instruction on
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/aiccu
It seems that AICCU can read config file and pass all 'aiccu test'. It can successfully Traceroute6 to (www.kame.net) in test-mode. And in system log, it seems that AYIYA tunnel has been successfully built.
root@OpenWrt:/etc# logread|grep local7
Mar 29 15:40:20 OpenWrt local7.info syslog: Succesfully retrieved tunnel information for T120026
Mar 29 15:40:21 OpenWrt local7.info syslog: [AYIYA-start] : Anything in Anything (draft-02)
Mar 29 15:40:21 OpenWrt local7.info syslog: [AYIYA-tun->tundev] : (Socket to TUN) started
However, aiccu won't start normal work.
After excute 'aiccu start', it can't build sixxs0 interface.
root@OpenWrt:/etc# logread|tail
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_getline() : "IPv4 Endpoint: ayiya"
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_getline() : "IPv4 POP: 119.17.194.232"
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_getline() : "UserState: enabled"
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_getline() : "AdminState: enabled"

Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_getline() : "Heartbeat_Interval: 60"
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_getline() : "202 Done"
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.info syslog: Succesfully retrieved tunnel information for T120026
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.debug syslog: sock_printf() : "QUIT Even the spirits are afraid"
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.err syslog: Could not store PID in file
Kind regards

Please note that this is not an operational issue with SixXS infrastructure, as such, please use the forums to resolve this question.
But to quickly ask some questions that you should proceed with in the forums:
However, aiccu won't start normal work.
What do you mean with that sentence?
After excute 'aiccu start', it can't build sixxs0 interface.
Do you have all required kernel modules installed?
Mar 29 16:14:39 OpenWrt local7.err syslog: Could not store PID in file
Looks like the location of the PID file is not writeable.
Normally there should be a filename after the "in file" part of that sentence.
What is the 'pidfile' value set to? Almost looks like it is set to empty...

Thank you for your reply, Jeroen Massar.
The problem has been resolved. During the installation, the aiccu prompts using the latest modules. It seems like a warning rather than an error, so I just ignored that. Maybe the some required module had not been successfully installed. These modules requires linux kernel 3.8.3. However, mine was 3.7.9. I re-installed the whole system with latest kernel and everything works fine now.
However, it is still weird that the aiccu should not accomplish a successful test(and -autotest) if it is is lack of some required module. It should prompt the cause of the error in test mode(''aiccu -test'').
BTW, the page at http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/aiccu did not give a clear instruction on how to use auto-start service script /etc/init.d/aiccu. The illustration on the relation between /etc/aiccu.conf and /etc/init.d/aiccu is ambiguous, so I make some modification.

Fang

From a SixXS point of view only /etc/aiccu.conf exists; and as OpenWRT people removed their UCI integration and the init script. /etc/aiccu.conf is the only config that is needed as that is what AICCU uses per default. (with UCI /etc/aiccu.conf would be generated from the UCI configuration settings).
OpenWRT removed the init script (which worked fine, unless you did not have connectivity and proper clock at boot), thus you just need to get the one out of either an old version or better the one that is delivered with AICCU.
