simbx01.sixxs.net unreachable from tunnel
Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 25 February 2009 20:25:51
I have read and followed the "Reporting Problems" section on the Contact page and am providing the following details for this report based on the list of items stated there:
My aiccu tunnels have no IPv6 connectivity, I obtain an address:
[root@Isis ~]# ip link show
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 16436 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
2: eth1: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN qlen 1000
link/ether 00:16:17:ef:3a:bb brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN qlen 1000
link/ether 00:50:ba:ab:f5:d7 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
4: pan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN

12: sixxs: <POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST,NOARP,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1280 qdisc pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN qlen 500
but ping6 simbx01.sixxs.net does not work
DNS resolving on the other hand works for example:
[root@Isis ~]# ping6 dns6.org
PING dns6.org(2001:41d0:1:641e::3) 56 data bytes
but no ping passes through. Also I am not able to ping to my other tunnels which are in the same situation.
If I connect through teredo, IPv6 works and simbx01.sixxs.net is reachable:
ping6 simbx01.sixxs.net
PING simbx01.sixxs.net(simbx01.sixxs.net) 56 data bytes
64 bytes from simbx01.sixxs.net: icmp_seq=1 ttl=58 time=156 ms
64 bytes from simbx01.sixxs.net: icmp_seq=2 ttl=58 time=55.5 ms
traceroute6 simbx01.sixxs.net
traceroute to simbx01.sixxs.net (2001:15c0:ffff:7::2) from 2001:0:53aa:64c:8a3:1482:a76d:b140, 30 hops max, 16 byte packets

Maybe this is the routing issue. Does anyone else on this POP face the same issues?
Thank you very much.

simbx01.sixxs.net unreachable from tunnel
Jeroen Massar on Wednesday, 25 February 2009 21:33:29 My aiccu tunnels have no IPv6 connectivity, I obtain an address:
I don't see any IPv6 address there, try 'ip tunnel show' and 'ip address show'
DNS resolving on the other hand works for example:
DNS is irrelevant to working connectivity. AAAA DNS queries can go over IPv4 transport and vice versa.
Maybe this is the routing issue.
What is your local routing table?
For the rest, provide the details as requested in the big orange box.
simbx01.sixxs.net unreachable from tunnel
Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 25 February 2009 22:01:41
Everything is working now. I have not changed any configuration. Also all of my tunnels started working. I encountered the problem today at about 19:00 CET.
I am sorry I did not provide routing table and addresses. I was checking them and they looked fine.
Thank you very much for your reply. ... I did not realized, I can obtain AAAA dns query from IPv4.
Again thanks the issue is gone for now.
