How to configure the ethernet LAN interface of a Cisco Router
Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 11 March 2009 23:47:19
Hi,
I have setup my Cisco router for IPv6. The tunnel to SIXXS (PoP Name nlhaa01) is working fine. I have connectivity to other IPv6 routers and websites.

This connectivity is from the console of the Cisco router. I want to connect my linux server to the ethernet (fa 1/0) interface of the router. How do I have to configure this interface? If I configure het same subnet I get a error message:
% Prefix 2001:1AF8:FE00:A4::25/64 overlaps with another prefix
Do you have a configuration example how to set this up?
My tunnel configuration of the cisco router:
interface Tunnel0
description Tunnel interface to SIXXS for IPv6
no ip address
load-interval 30
ipv6 address 2001:1AF8:FE00:A4::2/64
ipv6 enable
ipv6 mtu 1280
no ipv6 redirects
ipv6 cef
tunnel source FastEthernet1/0
tunnel destination 94.75.219.73
tunnel mode ipv6ip
tunnel path-mtu-discovery
The configuration of the fastethernet interface:
interface FastEthernet1/0
description internal ethernet interface
ip address 192.168.1.25 255.255.255.0
duplex auto
speed auto

How to route traffic from my tunnel interface to my LAN interface on a Cisco router
Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 16 April 2009 07:17:00
Hello Jeroen,
I still have a question about ticket ID SIXXS #997086
I still don't understand how to get IPv6 traffic routed from my LAN interface of my Cisco router into the tunnel and back to my LAN.
I have the tunnel connected with a /64 (see configuration below).
Now I want to route the IPv6 traffic from my tunnel into my LAN.
What IPv6 network do I have to configure on my LAN interface of my Cisco Router?
Don't I need a extra network for that?
Can you please explain what I have to do, to get this working.

What a waste of space....
Itâs not possible to subnet my IPv6 space in smaller subnets?

One size, fits all.
And actually you get a /48, which is 2^(128-48) = 1.20892582 Ã 10^24 addresses...

Hello Jeroen,
I still don't understand how to get IPv6 traffic routed from my local LAN into the tunnel and back to my LAN network.
